Peanut Butter Pie

So I brought this delicious dish for a dinner get-together on Monday night and it was super yummy. So yummy I almost forgot why half of American women were on a lifetime diet.

FYI - I cheated with a premade pie crust. The awesome hubs ran out to the store after two attempts at a made-from-scratch one.
Ingredients

Peanut Butter Filling
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream

Chocolate Topping
4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
½ cup heavy cream
Reese's cups

Chocolate Pie Crust

Directions

Peanut Butter Filling
In a large bowl, using a mixer, beat the cream cheese with the peanut butter, sugar and vanilla extract until blended. In another large bowl, using an electric mixer, whip the chilled cream until firm. Fold one-third of the whipped cream into the peanut butter mixture to loosen it, then fold in the remaining whipped cream. Spoon the filling into the crust, smoothing the surface. Refrigerate uncovered for about 1 hour.

Chocolate topping:
In a medium glass bowl, combine the chocolate with the heavy cream and microwave at high power in 20-second intervals until the chocolate is just melted and the cream is hot. Stir the chocolate topping until blended, then let cool to barely warm. Spread the chocolate topping over the chilled peanut butter filling and sprinkle the Reese's cups on top. Chill until ready to serve.

-I made a day ahead-

Fall Fetish

Sorry I have been so super sketchy. This week has been pure craziness with a new job and the house buying process. We haven't had time to enjoy ourselves at all.

One thing I will say though, I am ready for some fall. You can't look anywhere without sweaters and corduroy pants slapping you in the face. Maybe when that first fall feeling comes, I can add these to my closet!

I can't decide on which black boots I like :( Both are cute and I need some flat black ones!

Same with these leopard flats/slippers. Love all the leopard this season!!!

Longhorns Tank

A friend here in Austin found an adorable bling Longhorn tank a few weeks ago & knew she wanted a gameday dress to wear to the upcoming games this season.  I had the perfect skirt fabric & then we both decided that brown zebra print would set it off with the sash.

The outcome?
An adorable dress that is sure to turn heads next weekend here in Austin…

Exciting Weekend

Hello readers! Hope you are all having a great weekend so far.

I've got some exciting things on my plate to accomplish this weekend.  My classes went well this week, but I have A LOT of clinical hours to complete outside of class.  Over 150 to be exact, just for one class.  This means that I need to go out and purchase more professional attire! I'm really excited to find some cute things.  Also this weekend Stephen and I are going home and officially registering tomorrow! We have looked around Belk for things that we like, including fine china, crystal, everyday, etc.  Tomorrow we are going with both of our moms and spending the day registering.  Stephen is so excited to use the gun [scanner], he can hardly contain himself, but I told him he would have to share with me, haha.

Stephen and I have talked and we will be registering at Belk and Pottery Barn! I'm really excited to go to Pottery Barn, but that will have to wait till another weekend.

I've got a busy weekend, how's your weekend looking?

Make A Statement

...with your necklace!

I am really loving the statement necklace trend.  I love that you can easily dress up and bring life to a simple white tee or you can bring some attention to your boring work outfit.

Are you loving the statement necklace trend?
What's your favorite outfit to wear with a statement necklace?

Early Morning Routine

I received an email a couple of weeks ago requesting that I do a post on my early morning routine, I'm so sorry to that reader that it has taken me so long, life has been crazy.  I love receiving emails from y'all, and would love for you to send me any post suggestions!

My early morning routine varies depending on the day, and whether or not I have class that day.  My routine now is very basic and boring since I'm not in school, so I won't bore you with the details of sleeping in, going to the pool, etc.

My early morning routine for summer school, and throughout the school year is somewhat like this...

I wake up around 8:00 for my 9:30 class [I have no classes earlier than 9:30].
I get up, check my email [in case class is cancelled], publish my post for the day [I usually write the night before], and hop in the shower.
Once I have showered, dried my hair, and gotten dressed, I feed my cat, Nora.
I grab myself some breakfast, this tends to vary on my mood, but my choices for breakfast are whole wheat bagel with fat free cream cheese, a protein bar, or a bowl of Special K cereal [Cinnamon Pecan is the bomb!]
Once I've eaten breakfast, I brush my teeth and head out the door for class.

I have discovered some time savers throughout my college years that may be helpful for you.
  • Pick out your outfit the night before.  This has saved me a TON of time.  If I don't do this then I spend at least 20 minutes running around my room trying to figure out what to wear.  This leads me to be frustrated, rushed, and I run out the door flustered.  In order to keep myself together, start the day off on the right foot, picking out my outfit before hand is crucial.  I know sometimes we wake up and we are just in one of those moods where we don't want to wear something "nice."  So, in cases such as these, I always have a go-to outfit that satisfies me immediately.

  • Prepare meals the night before.  I sometimes need to pack a lunch for school, because on campus dining is super expensive. [Bojangles on campus you get the tiniest meal that sets you back $8.  If you go to the "real" Bojangles, off of campus it only costs you $4.]  If I know the night before that I need to take a lunch, then I prepare all the food the night before so I can easily grab it in the morning.

  • Prepare your school bag the night before. This is such a crucial thing to do if you want to save yourself time and possibly a panic attack.  The worst thing to me is running late, or just not having extra time to spare, and trying to find all my notebooks, books, and homework for class.  The best thing to do is right before bed is to pack everything up and double check that you have the important things [homework, paper due, etc.]

  • Get into a routine.  I feel so scatterbrained and not put together when I don't have a routine.  The best thing for me has been to get into a routine.  By establishing a routine, I know what to expect, and I can go from one thing to another smoothly and efficiently.

  • Take a shower the night before.  This doesn't apply to me, because after I sleep my hair is no where near presentable for the public, so I have to take showers in the morning.  But if you are one of the lucky ones who can take a shower at night, and just get ready in the morning, this is a great way to save time.

My early routine is not all that special, but I would love to hear about your early morning routines! Have you discovered any ways to save time in the morning?

Also, don't forget that I love to hear from my readers, so feel free to send me an email about a question or post suggestion!

Interview with Loulou of Loulou Loves You!

Loulou's giant bow veil, similar style available at Audrey Grace
I had the pleasure to meet the designer Loulou of the brand Loulou Loves You while in London and she is very lovely. I am a big fan of her lingerie and accessories line, both of which will be stocked in Audrey Grace. Below is an interview I conducted with Loulou! x

What is the story behind Loulou loves you?
I always say that setting up this business was a little bit of a round about accident. I'd never dreamed of doing fashion design or even working in fashion at all. I was doing a degree in painting (about ten years now!) when I became seriously ill and had to give school/everything all up. Fast forward a few years when i was getting back on my feet. I'd decided to take some pattern cutting and dressmaking classes, despite never having he huge urge to make clothes I'd always enjoyed and been good at sewing. At the same time I was building up quite a large lingerie collection (I've always been a sucker for silk, bows, lace and all things hidden underneath) and one day when clearing through my wardrobe I realised I had over 80 pairs of knickers! And I thought hang on maybe I should be making these...
Can you tell me a little about your design process and where do you draw your inspiration from?
Despite being an avid pencil pal (I draw all the time, diarying), I tend to rarely draw designs for my pieces. I have them in my head and then I go straight from my brain to the fabric, experimenting until it's perfect.
I feel like my process is very spontaneous, my last collection I dreamt and then woke up and made notes. Often It's whilst watching a movie (Disney heroines are my biggest inspiration) and I'll think ok, this is what Aurora is wearing underneath that dress. Or maybe just from a theme. When I designed the 'LOVE' collection my main source of inspiration was just 'old fashioned romance' and holding hands.
Anything that I love will inspire me, movies, animals, dessert, science, adventures, I'm often thinking about what kind of dates people could be on and what they could wear to fit that theme. I think it only recently hit me that I'm a romantic.
Finally/firstly, I tend to make things that I want and then I wholeheartedly hope that other people want them too.
Where do you source your materials from?
I buy my fabrics from some great stores London, I also will always pick up bits and pieces from here and there, I have a vast collection of trims and fabrics that I'm planning to make some one off items with.
How long have you been designing lingerie and accessories?
I set up Loulou Loves You in Summer 2007, man that time has gone quickly.
Have you always been interested in fashion, vintage and accessories?
I'd say yes and no. When I was a child I had a huge dressing up box... as i grew up I've never obsessed over catwalks, magazines and fashion blogs. Though I do remember in the mid 90's when the first Supermodels (the original and still the best, remember when models had thighs? that was awesome) were about, me and my friends loved looking at them in magazines at school.
I always see myself as someone who works in fashion but isn't 'IN' fashion, I'm sure I couldn't cut it in the VOGUE offices. I'm always a bit shocked when I start an interview and realize that the questions are fashion related and not about what my favourite dinosaur is, until I think about what I do. However I understand that the way I work is about the things I like and do and less about what is on trend.
My biggest interest has always been personal style and finding your own unique look and what works for you. I've never been someone to adhere to peer pressure, in any area of my life, so always found it easy to just dress how I liked (er some looks I've had really haven't been so good!)
I wouldn't say I dress in a lot of vintage, but I do buy vintage dresses because my body type is very hourglass and tends to often fit better into vintage shapes. I love accessorizing, it's the best bit, pulling together a theme for your outfit. It's perfectly plausible that I'll match my socks to my notepad.. I just bought shoes because they match my hair.
Who is the Loulou Loves You girl? What is her aesthetic?
The Loulou Loves You girl is any age,  she's young at heart, she's brave, independent, kind, confident, smart, sexy, she dreams big and ultimately she believes in magic. I think the term 'sexy slumber party' describes the Loulou Loves You look pretty well.
Who would be the ultimate celebrity (or even a style icon from the past) that you would love to see wearing your brand?Jayne Mansfield, Jessica Rabbit?
Since the boutique is called Audrey Grace what are your favorite Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly films and photos, or even specific outfits they have worn?I think Grace Kelly looks pretty glamourspectacular in the Hitchcock movies, but outside her work in movies... I think her wedding dress is just about the dreamiest I've ever seen.
I've never been a big Audrey Hepburn fan but I remember seeing some photographs of her with her pet deer and I think maybe that is the coolest fashion accessory you could wish for.
I can't wait for the photos of future me with my 5 puppies, three cats, tapir and armadillo wandering around the supermarket to come out.
Who are your favorite artists and photographers? Some people I know who are insanely awesome - Shae Deter, Katie Coleslaw, Bunny Bissoux , Caitlin Shearer , Malia James.
Some people who are insanely awesome who I'd like to know - Nick Mann, Neil Krug, Ellen Rogers, Edward Gorey, Quentin Blake, Marcel Dzama, Walt Disney
Who are your favorite designers?
Lu Flux (I'd like this for me and my future mate http://www.luflux.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/14-340x482.jpg), Vivetta, Eric Saeter and Jessica de Lotz for jewellery.
If I could afford it I'd dress head to toe in Dolce and Gabbanas AW2010 and SS2011 collections. I swear I was made for leopard print, lace and cute collars.
What (music) are you listening to now?
I grew up listening to all my Dads favourite music, and it's still what I listen to now, mostly old stuff, for me it still doesn't get much better than Roy Orbison. Right now I also have a good rotation of Blood Orange Spector, Thunderstorm or dolphin sounds, Folded Light, Alice in Wonderland + Jurassic Park movie soundtracks, Summer Camp and Big Deal.
12. How did you come up with the name Loulou Loves You?
I'd basically been using it as a tag for myself for years, and it just fits, because I have a lot of L.O.V.E (for you)!
14. Who is your style icon?
All my friends who always blow me away with their babeability. Victorian children, Mary Poppins and pretty much any Disney female, they are alarmingly good at wearing bows.
15. What can we expect from your future? Any exciting collaborations or anything?I'm drawing and painting a lot and have a couple of drawing projects I've set myself for October + November which I will be spending in LA so I'm super excited about that!
I just qualified as a holistic massage therapist and so I'm setting that up, healing based around illness recovery and stress release I hope.
I also just started a radio show with my best friend Laetitia (Fashion writer Mademoiselle Robot) called Babe Time where we talk about Babes! And then we have an oracle where I can chat about the universe, and then we answer your questions, about anything at all. It's about helping people out, encouraging people to dream big and it's beyond fun so loads more to do with that I hope. Oh and I do a spot of fortune telling too.
I feel lucky because I get to spend every day working on things that mean so much to me, which is the dream really isn't it?
If anyone wants to do a project with me then they should throw some ideas my way! I love strangers.
Any favorite places in London?
The Natural History Museum, The Science Museum, London Zoo, Screen on the green cinema, walking on the Southbank, laying in the daisies in Regents Park, Camden town for rummaging, Scoop for ice cream, Lounge Bohemia for cocktails.

A painting of my dear friend, radio partner + fellow dreamweaver Laetitia.
Loulou's painting of her friend Latitia, Loulou is creating an exclusive set of painting that will only be available at AGB!

Back To School: What's in My School Bag?

Today is my official first, last day back.  I'm lucky enough this year that my classes only fall on Wednesdays and Thursdays.  I cannot believe this year is my SENIOR year, wow, have the time flown by.  While I'm in the school spirit, I thought I'd share with you something very important to a college student...

I have seen others post about what is in their school bag, and it is something that has always interested me.  I like to know what other people use, how it works for them, and if it can be useful to me.  So, without further ado....

I carry my books and notebooks along with the above items in my Vineyard Vines tote.  I also use a Large Longchamp tote in red.  Once I get bored with carrying the VV tote, I switch to my Longchamp.  Occasionally I need to carry my laptop to class, and both totes are great for those special times.
I have found that a notebook works best for me. When I was a freshmen I bought binders, tabs, etc but ended up finding that the notebook was simple, cheaper, and easier for me to use.  My advice is to find works best for you.

I also carry with me my Lilly Pulitzer Large Agenda.  This is my first year using the Lilly Pulitzer agenda, so I'm excited to see how it works out for me.  Before, I would go to Office Depot or Staples and find a cute planner.  A planner is a must-need item for a college student.  With homework, mid-terms, finals, projects, presentations, social activities, and work; this is the only way that I stay sane throughout the school year.

Just Madras
I live off campus so instead of being able to just pick up my school card and room keys, I also have to bring my license and money for food, the copier, etc.  I use my trusty Hobo wallet.  Stephen got this for me for Christmas, and I love it. If you live on campus you won't necessarily need to bring your entire wallet around with you, so I suggest something like the change purse from Just Madras.

As you can see in the picture, I have a pencil case (it's polka dotted in the picture).  In this I carry pens, pencils, highlighters, a little stapler, and paper clips.  These all come in handy, especially the little stapler.  I have had professors before that will not accept any homework or papers that aren't stapled, so this is great to have on hand in case you run out without stapling it.  My pencil case is from Gap, but you can find these all over.  Marshalls and Tj Maxx always have a wide selection of small cases.

I also keep a small hair brush with me.  I haven't complied a new "Save-the-Day" bag, but I usually always have with me a medium sized cosmetic case that is filled with little necessities. I put tampons, bandaids, Advil, compact mirror, bobby pins, hair ties, etc.  Anything that you can think of that you might need, throw it in there.  There have been so many times that I've thanked myself a thousand times for having this small bag in my tote.

I have several handheld mace dispensers that I spread throughout my bags that go to school with me.  I always have one in my purse, and also in my VV tote or Longchamp, just depending on what I use that day.  You never know when you might need to use this, so it is good to have it within reach, and know how to actually use it.

One of the last things that I carry with me is my Camelback water bottle.  It is good to stay hydrated throughout the day.  There are several healthy benefits to being hydrated, and they are suppressing your appetite, encouraging your metabolism, regulating your body systems, and giving you energy.  I also tend to carry around some small, healthy snacks that can stay fresh in my bag in case I need a little something. If you would like to spice up your water bottle, personalize it with your monogram or add stickers.

So, I'd like to know what is in your school bag?
What is the most important item that you carry around with you [besides class necessities]?

Ale of Rosaspina Vintage: Illustrations for Audrey Grace!

Here are the adorable illustrations the lovely Ale of Rosaspina Vintage has created for the boutique. The top one is of Alexa Chung and the bottom is of Audrey. These illustrations will be printed on numerous items that will be for sale in the boutique- I am thinking mugs, totes, maybe even t-shirts and some prints will be available. Ale is also creating illustrations of Kirsten Dunst and Tennessee Thomas- two style favorites of mine, so I can't wait to see those as well! Oh and check out her lovely blog here: (http://rosaspinavintage.blogspot.com
I am back home in Mississippi after being away for so long. I plan on posting everyday now. I got home to a huge amount of packages for the boutique and everything is just so perfect and adorable. I have a photo shoot for the shop on Friday, so I can't wait to share with you some of the things the shop will be selling!

Elon Football Dinner Party

It is crazy to think how fast time really does fly.  It seems like yesterday that my brother and I were making tents that filled an entire room, going to the store and my grandmother buying us a load of Shock Tarts (do they even make these anymore?), and raking bike paths through the leaves in our back yard.  Now, I'm a senior in college and he is a freshmen in college. Weird.

Last weekend, my brother and my adoptive brother came home from summer classes at school.  My parents threw them a dinner party to recognize their achievements (both playing football) and their supporters throughout the years.  Family, family friends, coaches, high school teachers, and others were in attendance.  It was great to see everyone come together for the boys!

Here are some pictures from the night:

This first table is decorated with Elon colors.

This table is decorated in their high school colors.

The cake! Each football had the boys' name on it. [Robert's nickname has always been "Bear."]

You can tell they were thrilled to be having their picture taken. Boys.
My mom organized the night perfectly! Guests were to come at 6pm and mingle until dinner was served around 6:30pm.  Dinner was catered (my mom doesn't enjoy cooking) and we had chopped barbeque served with buns, barbeque chicken breasts, baked beans, pineapple casserole dish, chips, and other dishes were served. The food, company, and the cake were a hit with everyone.  Now we all can't wait to see the boys play football!

Happy Birthday Jane Allen!

I feel like everyone is born the same day! Happy Birthday Jane Allen! I hope you have a great birthday and your first one married!

The Ring

Thank you all so much for the sweet comments about the proposal.  I finally got a chance to upload a picture of my ring and I'm so so so excited to show you! I still cannot stop looking down at it!

Today is a crazy day for me.  I've been at the lake for over a week [reality check], school starts this week, my apartment feels messy, AND I have wedding things to sort through!

What's on your agenda this Monday?

Happy Birthday Rebekah!

Happy Birthday Rebekah (my sis-in-law)! We hope you have an amazing birthday!
