As my love for Pinterest grows, so does the unfortunate amount of time I spend drooling over the pictures and pinning every one I find [If you would like an invite leave a comment. If you are already on Pinterest, FIND ME: ahb1223]. I have been repinning so many DIYs that I finally set some time a couple of weeks to try one out. Stephen's mom's birthday was in late August, and I really didn't know what to get her. I knew I wanted to give her something thoughtful, and something that she could use for awhile. His mom is also a kindergarten and first grade teacher, so as soon as I found the crayon wreath on Pinterest, here:
I KNEW I had to try it.
As with all DIY projects, at least I do, I hope and pray that the final product looks somewhat like the original. As much as I try really hard, sometimes I try to hard and just totally mess something up. So with this project I was starting off slow. I was surprised at the end of this DIY adventure that my final product actually looked very similar to the original. What do ya think?
Taaa. Daaa.
Please excuse my bow. I had to tie it in the car on the way to the lake, and it really just wasn't happening at the moment. I still cannot believe how well this turned out, and I can't wait to try this out again.
The instructions that came along with this wreath said that it would take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Yeah right. With the help of my mom, it took us about 1 hr and 30 mins.
Materials: Styrofoam wreath, fabric, 64 crayons, ribbon, and hot glue.
It was definitely a help to have my mom there, because it would have taken me even longer to apply the crayons. We had a system going where I would put hot glue on the crayon, pass it to her, and then she would stick it on the wreath. If you plan to make this or something similar, either allot for a good chunk of time or find a friend, or your mom. :)
